Vacuum/Spray Drills
Global Intermed is pleased to announce it is now marketing and supporting the Orthofex Micro-Air and Ortho-Spray Vacuum/Spray Drills for the debridement of skin & nails in association with European Footcare Supply. These quality units are high-end burr drivers meant for heavy duty professional use every day for 10 to 15 years. The Micro-Air units incorporate built-in vacuum while the Ortho-Spray employs a fluid mist to limit the hazardous air-borne particulate matter that is generated in the course of debridement treatment procedures.
The Micro-Air Burr
Driver with built-in vacuum has an
integral vacuum nozzle close to the burr that allows the Doctor a full
range of positions while debriding. The weight balanced handpiece is
designed to fit easily in any Doctor’s hand. A foot switch is standard
to activate the variable speed feature that can achieve a maximal rotational
speed of 30,000 rpm in either direction. (A 2 speed foot control switch is
optional.) The unit is designed to be
plugged into any standard 110V outlet
and is rated for 2.5 amps. The overall dimensions are 9 5/8” x 5 1/8” x 5
7/8” with a total weight of 7.5 lbs. It is fitted with an automatic
self-resetting overload protection feature that eliminates fuses and
consequent down-time. Options include the above referenced 2 speed foot switch and a handsome
carrying case. The Micro-Air unit is warranted for 1 year from the time of
delivery 100% parts & labor or replacement so long as they are used for

The Ortho-Spray unit is our high grade burr driver that
incorporates fluid induction to cool the surface of the skin and/or nails
during the course of the debridement process. The fluid also absorbs the hazardous
air-borne particulate matter that is otherwise generated in the course of the treatment.
Specifically, a consistent cool mist of alcohol and water is sprayed onto
the area of contact between the burr and the tissue (automatically when the unit
is activated), from a reservoir that is located and refilled easily within the control unit itself. The
Driver includes a variable speed control that allows
the burr to rotate to a maximal
speed of 30,000 rpm in either direction. An
on/off foot switch is standard but units can be ordered without it as an
option. The unit is designed to be plugged into any standard 110V outlet and
is rated for 2 amps. Dimensions are 9 5/8" x 5 1/8" x 5 7/8" and its total
weight is 7.25 pounds. An optional carrying case is also available. The
Ortho-Spray unit is warranted for 1 year from the date of delivery 100% parts & labor or
replacement so long as it is used for its intended purpose. Be sure to ask
